Chapter 337 Subordinates, Friends
Chapter 337 Subordinates, Friends
"Let's hurry back," Han Che said, glancing at Qi Yuzhe beside his desk.
"You saw what happened last time; the club definitely won't be behaving itself lately. I'm afraid someone will cause trouble again."
Qi Yuzhe sat in the chair next to the desk, leaning back against the backrest with his legs dangling on the edge of the desk.
"Now that the authorities have officially announced the upgrade, who would dare to cause trouble? Wouldn't that be blatantly going against the authorities?"
Han Che shook his head. As he buttoned up his trench coat, he said, "They probably won't dare to cause trouble openly like the Clown Gang did before, but I'm worried about them pulling some dirty tricks behind the scenes."
"It's easy to dodge a spear in the open, but hard to guard against an arrow in the dark. If they don't take action in the open, they'll definitely try to trip you up from behind."
"You said you were unhappy with the 78 Club's promotion." Qi Yuzhe put his feet down and tapped his fingers twice on the table.
"There must be a lot of those, right? Especially that Watermelon Club you mentioned before, with whom you have a long-standing feud?"
"Colluding with foreign forces was already a serious offense, but instead of getting revenge, they're now under investigation. What kind of trouble can a spineless dog possibly cause?"
"It's hard to say. Those guys have absolutely no bottom line, so we need to hurry back and keep an eye on them." Han Che stood up from his chair and was about to leave.
Qi Yuzhe sat up straight in his chair. "What about the prison? It's reopening tomorrow, aren't you going to do anything about it?"
He looked surprised. "Didn't Shi Ding and the others say that some people from the White Eagle organization infiltrated last time? Aren't you going to investigate what happened?"
Han Che stopped at the door.
He stood by the door, his hand on the doorknob but not turning it, remaining motionless for a few seconds.
He could feel the gaze on him from behind.
He knew that what Qi Yuzhe said was true, and logically he should stay and find out more about the Bald Eagle before leaving.
"Let's give them a chance to show off their new skills," Han Che said, turning back to speak, his words slower than before, as if trying to convince himself.
"You've been training them with me these past few days, and you've seen that they've improved quite a bit. Besides, the Bald Eagles this time are just ordinary people, no different from those we've encountered before, so they shouldn't pose much of a threat."
Han Che didn't say this with much confidence. His confidence actually came from the relatively sufficient prison funds, which could cover the expenses of the prison guards.
Qi Yuzhe stared at him for a few seconds, then sighed deeply, raised his hand to his forehead, covering half of his face, and his voice came out muffled from behind his palm.
"Sigh... never mind." He waved his other hand. "Your heart isn't here anymore. You're out there. Asking you to stay would just make you anxious. You go ahead and do your thing. I'm not going this time. I'll stay home and watch the house."
"Besides, the matter of the bald eagle might really need to be investigated from the outside. Let's work together, one inside and one outside, to investigate."
"Really?" Han Che's eyes lit up, and his tone became lighter.
"Really~" Qi Yuzhe pouted and rolled his eyes, dragging out the "of" in a sarcastic tone.
Han Che chuckled. This outcome was indeed the best arrangement for him; one person could guard the Tide Prison while the other went out to handle matters in the player world, without neglecting either side.
He opened the door and took a step out, then turned back and asked, "So, I'm leaving?"
"Let's go, let's go." Qi Yuzhe didn't even raise his head this time, waving one hand in the air, "Bring me back a daughter-in-law as soon as possible."
"Get the hell out of here!" Han Che laughed and cursed as he stepped out of the office, closing the door behind him.
Qi Yuzhe was the only one left in the office.
He sat in that chair and rocked back and forth a couple of times, then stood up, walked behind the desk, and unceremoniously plopped down into the large office chair in the middle.
The chair was much wider than the one he had just used, and the backrest was higher, making it much more comfortable to sit in.
He reached out and picked up the pen Han Che had placed on the corner of the table, twirling it between his fingers. He then flipped through the closed notebook on the table, casually opening a page, glancing at it, and closing it again.
A moment later, there was a knock on the office door, and Shi Ding's voice came from outside, "Report!"
"Come in." Qi Yuzhe leaned back, adopting a sprawling sitting posture with his chin slightly raised.
Shi Ding's gaze swept around the office, finally settling on the person sitting at the top. His expression clearly paused for a moment, and his brows furrowed slightly.
"Raven? What are you doing sitting here? Where is the warden?"
Qi Yuzhe leaned back in his chair, twirled the pen in his hand twice, and then slammed it down on the table.
"The warden has gone to find some benefits for our families at Tide Prison."
"Seeking personal gain?" Shi Ding wondered, wondering what nonsense Raven was spouting again.
"Yes," Qi Yuzhe raised his eyelids to look at him, the corners of his mouth slowly twitching into a slightly mischievous smile.
"Recruit new members for the prison. Bring back a female warden for your prison guards."
Shi Ding's usually composed face tensed up for a moment, his lips pressed tightly together, as if he were trying to determine whether Raven's words were true or just a joke.
He looked at Qi Yuzhe for a while, then decided not to ask any more questions, and simply nodded slightly. "Did the warden say when he'll be back?"
"He didn't say, but it shouldn't be too long." Qi Yuzhe dropped his joking expression and sat up straighter.
"However, he gave instructions regarding the prison opening tomorrow. Just arrange the defense according to the training content of the past few days. Add an extra layer of sentries in the core area, so that if a situation like the last one occurs again, we won't panic."
Shi Ding's expression turned serious, and his posture became even straighter than before: "Yes. I've made the arrangements. Shi Lei will lead the patrol team, and I'll stay at the entrance to the core area."
Qi Yuzhe waved his hand, "Don't be too nervous. I'll be on duty at the prison tomorrow. If those Americans come again, just contact me, and I'll personally entertain them."
Shi Ding nodded upon hearing this, "Yes, Your Excellency Raven, the personal guard is ready at any time."
Upon hearing this address, Qi Yuzhe's brows immediately relaxed. "Lord Raven? Haha, I like it!"
Then Qi Yuzhe's gaze fell on Shi Ding. He saw Shi Ding standing there, head held high, saluting properly, his smile slowly fading.
Qi Yuzhe walked around from behind the desk and stood beside Shi Ding. "Brother Shi Ding, what are you doing? Do we really need to act like this?"
"Your Excellency Raven, you are now the warden's partner, and the guards should treat you the same way." Shi Ding said solemnly.
"Brother Shi Ding, do you know why the warden and I became so close so quickly?" Qi Yuzhe asked softly.
"You need to understand that a warden needs more than just respect for his subordinates."
"What he needs more is a friend he can talk to about anything." Qi Yuzhe patted Shi Ding's shoulder lightly twice.
"Coincidentally, I also quite like having friends."
